My Prince Charming

Just Before Christmas 1999... My Prince Charming finally swept me off my feet. On a Friday night in December, Brian picked me up on our regular date, but this time with daisies and a rose (my favorite flowers). He's given me flowers before, but not since my birthday. So, I thought, "Could it be?!", but I figured no because we've only been together for 8 1/2 months. Well, we were headed towards the mall to do Christmas shopping before he was to visit family in California. Surprisingly, he wisked me off to Houston's Transco Tower, a huge cascading wall of water in the city's tourist spot (He said he's never been here before). So, we walked around the fountain park three times! We stopped and we hugged for a very, very long time that I actually snoozed in his arms. Soon after, he gently shook me and said, "Pauline, you know I love you so much. So, will you be my wife?". Boy, did that wake me up! He slipped on my finger a ring with a platinum band and baguettes on the sides and a heart-shaped diamond in the center. (He couldn't kneel because the ground was too wet.) I gasped in happiness and gave him a tight hug. Then, he lovingly asked, "Well, my answer?". I giggled and said yes with a big smile on my face. Then, we rode off to the restaurant he took me to on our first date.---We never went shopping!

A research nurse colleague of ours introduced us. Brian was working as a physician, where I was a research nurse at the Texas Medical Center. He's tall, blonde, from California and from a Protestant upbringing; whereas, I'm petite and dark-haired and from a Filipina-American Catholic background---who knew we would ever get together! Our families get along and we love each other so!! Thank God for such blessings!

Even though, Brian's from California and I'm from Texas. We've decided to marry at a Church in Hawaii on May, 6, 2000 with 40 of our closest family and friends. The 6 groomsmen will wear Barongs (see-through-like embroidered shirts---very Island-like and a must-see!) and the 6 Bridesmaids will wear spaghetti-strap knee-length sundresses. The cake will be all-chocolate and shaped as a Bible. Our reception will be held at a local Luau dinner/show which involves spear-throwing, lei-making, and coconut bowling!
